Floor of the 3rd floor

This week the 3rd floor took shape. First, the sill plate was installed along the edge of the building. It will become the base of the west wall.

Then, they welded a long L-shaped angle to the side of square tube to accept the floor joists.

Four 12-inch joists are assembled to make one girder. Although the steel looks thin, it's really heavy!

The girder ties together the sill and the welded angle. Like the sill, it becomes the base of a wall (the south wall, in this photo).

Here all the bedroom floor joists are in place. The bedroom looks big! But closets will take up much of the floor space.

And here, the guestroom & my office floor joists are finished. The 3rd floor will actually extend to the edge of the door at far right, there will be a hallway connecting the bedroom, guestroom and office to this door which is at the top of the red metal stairway in the exotic bathroom in the old elevator shaft.
