As noted at the end of the last post, D. was dissatisfied and demanding about the quality and safety of the scaffolds being erected by the subcontractor who was to install the DensGlass and apply the stucco finishing. This slowed things down at the beginning of the week, and at mid-week everyone got a grim reminder of why D. was so right. By week's end all but the east wall was enclosed. Storms usually come from the west, so we hoped we were largely watertight. Nonetheless, Brooklyn's winds were nothing like Manhattan's.

The elevator arrived! A big box, you'd think? Try roughly 75 smallish pieces that took hours to unload! So far the pieces are all just sitting in the garage. D. was very pleased that the installation specialists said he'd be very pleased with the make and model he chose - no residential "toy" here!
All of the new sections got roofed. First our crew built drainage angles in plywood, then the roofers quickly applied a white plastic-like sheet. That's it - no tar paper, no torch, no layers. Expensive, but said to resist leaks (very appealing) and to keep heat out of the house.
