Return of the Parkers!

A very important and welcome development: the garage is sufficiently clear of construction materials and stored furniture* to allow the paying customers to return. Work continues on the garage ceiling and walls, so D. will move the parked cars out of the way some days. *The arts and crafts chairs, which we had sent away to be reupholstered several months ago, had been camping in the garage and are now camped on the 2nd floor, looking very pretty!

Upstairs the work has focused on painting (and prerequisite taping, sanding and priming). The 5th and 4th floors are completely painted, except the spiral stair which I'm still reluctant to see bright yellow. The 3rd floor is more than 1/2 done, including the blue bedroom and guestroom walls.

Now we are starting to see really nice elements that were impossible to imagine during construction. I'm quite fond of the stepped ceiling in the hallway, which seemed useless when it was just framing. And we were surprised to discover that the big clerestory gets a lot of morning light.
